Kentucky Opry Tours goes to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg

We will stay at the Hampton Inn, See 4 fabulous shows, have 2 fabulous dinners. 2 breakfasts and 1 lunch, taxes , tips, and luggage handling included.
Oct 18th - We will leave JC Penny parking lot in Paducah, 7:30 Monday morning. Pick up folks at the Kentucky Opry 8 am. There will be stops in Eddyville, Princeton and Cadiz to pick up passengers. You will have couple hours for shopping at the Mall before we eat dinner at The fantastic Golden Corral that evening will see "The Comedy Barn Show".
Oct. 19th - It's up the mountains to the over-look and see the beautiful scenery of the Great Smokey Mountains, have lunch at the Apple Barn and see the Matinee of the Country Tonight Show. Dinner that evening will be at the Wood Grill Buffet and then we will see The Tennessee Shindig Show!

Auditions for Singers Grades 5-8

Paducah, KY - The Pennyroyal Arts Council invites singers (unchanged voices) Grades 5 - 8 to audition to sing with The Nashville Opera Company for performances to be held at the Alhambra Theatre, Thursday, November 11, 2010.
The Audition will be held at the Alhambra Theatre, Wednesday, September 8, 4:15 pm to conclusion at approximately 6:00 PM. All students must be in attendance for the entire audition time. Each singer is asked to prepare to sing My Country Tis of Thee without accompaniment in a range that is comfortable for their voice.
Rehearsals will be held on successive Wednesdays throughout September, October and November. Choral Instruction will be provided by teachers of the Pennyroyal Academy of Fine Arts.

Replica Columbus Ships the Nina and Pinta Visit Grand Rivers

Grand Rivers, KY - On Friday September 3rd, the 'Pinta' and the 'Nina', replicas of Columbus' ships will open in Grand Rivers. The ships will be docked at the Green Turtle Bay Resort, until their departure early Tues. Sept 7th.
While in port, the general public is invited to visit the ships for walk aboard self guided tour. The prices are $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and $5.00 for children. Children 4 and under are Free. The ship is open every day from 9am-6pm. No reservations necessary.

Super City Quilt City Connection, A Celebration of the Arts between Two Cities

Paducah KY & Metropolis IL - The National Quilt Museum and the Metropolis Tourism are proud to combine forces for the second year of Super City - Quilt City, An assortment of exhibits and activities will be held in both cities. The Massac Quilters Guild Quilt show combines with artist and culinary demonstrations for an event of super measure at the Harrahs Riverfront Event Center in Metropolis, while exhibits, demonstrations, a fabric swap meet, a 'Baste In' and lectures by known experts will be featured at The National Quilt Museum. Paducah's Stitch N Quilt Guild is holding Quiltfest, Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9am -3pm at Broadway Church of Christ in Paducah. Quiltfest features a quilt show, vendors and demonstrations. Drink in Dairy Dynamics!

Paducah, KY - Evenings Upstairs @ Your Library Are you prepared to be utterly fascinated? A program about the history of milk and other dairy products in our region may just hit the spot! Dairies from Paducah's Past September 16th.
Most young people would tell you milk comes from the grocery store, but that's not the way it always was in our region!! Local historian, Market House Museum President, and author B.J. Summers will set the record straight during his program at 7 PM. He'll also show you obscure dairy items commonly used in the early part of the last century.
Summers began his love of Paducah history and collectibles nearly 40 years ago. Always interested in business advertising, he has authored more than 20 books on values for such items as Coca-Cola, gasoline and general business advertising, as well as a wide variety of soft drinks.

Paducah, KY - ll programs are free & open to the public ! If you asked most youngsters today where milk comes from the answer would likely be, the grocery store. However in Paducah in the early 1900s the answer to the same question would be very different. Join us for a discussion of the Paducah milk industry in the first part of the 20th century and discover some of the obscure items that were commonly used during that time. B.J. Summers began his love of Paducah history and collectibles nearly 40 years ago. Always interested in business advertising, he has authored well over 20 books on values for such items as Coca-Cola, gasoline advertising, general business advertising as well as a wide variety of soft drinks. Benton, KY - Benton Working Artists Gallery's Feature Artist for August is Mike Driver, Stained Glass Artist, featuring the first showing of his three-dimensional "Lighthouse on a Cliff" This 3-D item of glass art uses several colors of stippled glass for trees, bushes and white clouds, a unique color blend of steel-blue and medium-blue Waterglass for the ocean and sections of wine bottles cut to fit for the top of the lighthouse. This year's exhibition showcases sculptures, fiber art, handmade books, silver jewelry, photographs and paintings. Local authors are represented in the show with poems, cookbooks, short stories and an autobiography. The exhibition is on display now through August, 28th.

Art Tells a Story

Cadiz, KY - Folk artist Helen LaFrance and Willie Rascoe. Helen is from Mayfield while Willie is from Trigg County. They are teaming up for this imaginative folk art exhibit. LaFrance is known for her delightful paintings of rural scenes from her childhood. Rascoe uses found wood, shells, bone, and metal to create his whimsical three-dimensional sculptures. BLACK PATCH WAR (1906)” FEATURED AT ADSMORE

Princeton, KY - The story of the farmer's rebellion that came to be known as the Black Patch War is told at Adsmore. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also on the grounds is the log Ratliff Gun Shop where the story of Princeton’s first gunsmith is told.
